Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

Global Tungsten & Powders (GTP) located in Towanda, PA is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic Electrical Engineer with a background in industrial power to provide an array of services in support of Plant Operations. The successful individual will work closely within a fully integrated team of engineers, designers and skilled craft workers of varying disciplines to facilitate Capital Equipment Installations, provide troubleshooting expertise for systems, as well as provide technical expertise and leadership to maintain and improve the reliability of the division’s power distribution system.

  • Provide project management and engineering support for CAPEX projects of varying magnitude from routine parts replacement to large scale plant expansions
  • Lead projects through all stages of development including initial conceptualization, cost estimating and timeline development, equipment procurement and installation, start-up and debug of equipment
  • Be the internal subject matter resource for all electrical systems (including drives, motors, sensors,...) and provide emergency support to manufacturing and maintenance when needed
  • Interface with the maintenance electricians and electronic technicians as well as managing vendors to provide services ensuring that plant standards and best practices are followed.
  • Provide input for the plant controls strategy to establish and maintain plant standards as well as records and make recommendations for improving function and reliability of power systems.
  • Knowledge on how to set power breaker settings and coordination of feeders settings through the power distribution system.
  • Knowledge of 480Vac Motors, Starters/Drives, wiring/conduit, wire types (THHN/HighTemp/MetalClad)
  • Knowledge of Power Distribution Panels/MCCs, NEC Code (NFPA 70, 70E, 70B)
  • Knowledge of Fuse sizing and types for transformers/capacitors/feeders
  • Knowledge of 480V Distribution Panel sizing and Motor Control Panel Design & sizing
  • Familiarity with Electrical Design Software like Easy Power
  • Knowledge of Power Monitoring – CTs & VTs – as well as knowledge of Power Monitoring Software (ie Schneider Electric’s Power Monitoring Expert)
  • Knowledge on how to set power breaker settings and coordination of feeders settings through the power distribution system

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and 4+ years in an engineering or technical role
  • Classes specific to Motors, Transformers, and Power Distribution preferred
  • Higher levels of power knowledge are not required (Ie. 4160V, 34.5kV) but would be a plus
  • Capital Expenditure Project Management experience preferred
  • Strong MS Office skills, SAP and Six Sigma
  • Sound problem solving skills, disciplined approach to making decisions and the ability to work on a team
