Responsible for the overall compliance with regards to the AS9100 certification. This position will maintain and improve manufacturing capabilities and efficiencies by determining opportunities for improvement. This includes the administration of standard operating procedures (SOP’s), maintaining document control, monitoring compliance trends and all internal and customer complaint notifications.

Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings discussing quality levels, customer returns and top internal failures, providing support to Internal & External Customers
    for the identification of root cause and the subsequent implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain processes associated with compliance including ITAR and Export Control.
  • Maintain AS9100 certifications by leading, supporting and maintaining established quality system.
  • Ensure internal audits are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate in Customer, 3rd party and regulatory audits
  • Use statistical analysis tools to evaluate process capabilities & measurement system analysis (Gage R&R)
  • Ensure engineering changes conform to internal quality requirements.
  • Use risk-based tools (FMEA) to identify opportunities for improvement within processes and implement actions to mitigate and eliminate unwanted risks.
  • Establish, modify, implement and monitor systems and procedures to enhance timely and efficient workflow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2-5 years or; Associate’s degree and 5+ years of demonstrated experience in leading formalized product/process improvements, and external provider relationship management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lead auditor/CQA/CQE certification desired.
  • Experience working within an ISO9001:2015 and AS9100:2016 quality certified organization and application of those standards to the management of external providers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with quality system tools (i.e., 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa diagram, control charts, Pareto charts), structured analytical tools and methodologies (i.e., SPC, pFEMA) and management techniques (i.e., Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5s).
  • Proficiency with risk management tools and ability to plan actions needed to address risks, integrate actions into QMS and evaluate actions for effectiveness.
  • Effective organizational, oral presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and process modeling and visualization tools ( i.e., Visio); experience with SAP R/3 preferred.
  • Knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations and compliance.
